Jobs are the core of RouteNio - every delivery, transport run, service call, or booking lives here. This guide walks through creating your first job manually from start to finish.
Once you're familiar with the form, try importing jobs from a CSV (Import Jobs) or creating jobs via email using the Email Ingestion feature. For repeat routes, the Routes Library auto-fills pricing automatically.
Step 1 - Open the Job Form
- Navigate to Jobs in the left sidebar.
- Click Create Job in the top-right corner.
- The job creation slide-over panel opens on the right.
Step 2 - Client & Reference
- Job Reference - the system auto-generates a sequential reference (e.g.,
JOB-0042). You can overwrite it with your own reference number (e.g., a client PO number). - Client - select from your client list. If the client doesn't exist yet, click the + button to create them on the fly without leaving this form.
If you haven't added any clients yet, see Create Your First Client first - you'll need at least one client before creating a job.
Step 3 - Job Details
- Job Type - select the service type (Delivery, Pickup, Transfer, etc.). The options shown depend on your fleet type configuration.
- Pickup Address - enter or search the pickup location. Google Maps autocomplete suggests addresses as you type.
- Delivery Address - the destination address. For multi-stop jobs, click Add Stop to insert intermediate stops.
- Date - the scheduled service date.
- Time - the pickup time. Leave blank if no specific time is required.
- Estimated Duration - optional. If your fleet type tracks time-based billing, enter the expected job duration.
Step 4 - Route & Pricing
- Click Select Route to choose a pre-configured route from the Routes Library.
- Selecting a route auto-fills the rate, distance, and pricing fields.
- If no matching route exists, fill in pricing manually.
- Price - enter the quoted amount for this job.
Pre-configuring your common routes in the Routes Library is the biggest time-saver in RouteNio. One click replaces five manual fields every time.
Step 5 - Notes & Documents
- Notes / Special Instructions - add anything the driver needs to know: access codes, parking instructions, fragile cargo warnings, etc.
- Attachments - drag and drop or browse to attach any documents (delivery dockets, purchase orders, manifests, etc.). These appear in the driver's mobile view.
Step 6 - Save the Job
- Review all fields.
- Set Status to Pending (the default for new jobs awaiting assignment).
- Click Save Job.
The job is now listed in Jobs → Pending, ready to be assigned to a driver and vehicle.
What Comes Next?
- Assign a driver and vehicle → Assign a Driver
- Track the job live on the map → Track Your Fleet
- Invoice the client when complete → Invoice from Completed Jobs
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| Can't find the client in the dropdown | Create the client first, or use the inline + button |
| Address not resolving | Try entering the full street address including suburb and postcode |
| Pricing fields are greyed out | Select a Rate Type first to unlock the price field |
| Job not appearing after save | Check the Status filter - it may be filtered to Active only |
